GOP to Adopt Bugs Bunny Strategy to Combat Dem Majority

Despite Republican efforts to prevent the passing of the pork-laden stimulus bill in Congress last week, Democrats successfully passed the bill on their own due to their overwhelming majority. This has left many in the GOP wondering how best to make their voices heard going forward in a Democrat-controlled Congress. According to some Republicans, the answer may be found in Bugs Bunny cartoons.

"We're calling it 'Operation: Wabbit Season'," says Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. "Whenever we find ourselves in an endless back-and-forth debate with Democrats in Congress, we shall suddenly switch to their opinion in midstream, thus tricking them into adopting our opinion."

Using this strategy, a global warming debate on the Senate floor might go something like this:

Republicans: "Global warming is a hoax!"
Democrats: "Global warming is real!"
Republicans: "It's a hoax!"
Democrats: "It's real!"
Republicans: "Hoax!"
Democrats: "Real!"
Republicans: "Hoax!"
Democrats: "Real!"
Republicans: "Real!"
Democrats: "Hoax!"
Republicans: "Real!"
Democrats: "Hoax!"
Republicans: "Real!"
Democrats: "I'm tellin' ya, global warming is a hoax!"
Republicans: "Whatever you say, Doc. Global warming is a hoax."
(Democrats do a delayed double-take.)

While this strategy may seem unconventional, Republicans were able to successfully employ it in 2002 to win support for the Iraq War Resolution.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to the Republican adoption of this strategy by saying, "I think it's dethpicable!"
